Seismic amplitudes can image rock and fluid changes in the subsurface. SIP combines well and seismic information to produce geologically meaningful images highlighting key geological and fluid induced seismic effects. A bespoke workflow is designed based on consultation with the client determining the key geo-technical questions and how these can be answered using the available data.
For example: Is a soft impedance response you see due to gas sands, shale, or coal?
SIP will design a work flow using seismic Amplitude Versus Offset (AVO) analysis, Rock Physics (analysis and modelling of well logs for different rock and fluid combinations) and inversion (conversion of seismic amplitudes into calibrated rock properties such as p-impedance and density) to answer the question or assign a most likely case.
